FTZ Group since 1984
The founder of the brand, Ferruh Temel Zülfikar, took his first step into commercial life in 1984 as a profit partner at a fuel station in Ankara. He rapidly made a difference with his knowledge and hard work, ultimately taking over the entire operation of the fuel station.
In 1988, he established his independent business under the name Ferruh Petrol. In the following years, he expanded the number of fuel stations in Ankara, increasing service capacity while also beginning to develop the FTZ brand.
In 1994, Ferruh Temel Zülfikar transformed his businesses into a corporate structure and transferred all his individual enterprises to FTZ Akaryakıt Otomotiv Ltd. Şti.
In 1995, he began construction of the Balgat FTZ Business Center, completing it in 1997. This marked his entry into "business center management," which was among the first in Turkey at that time.
In 1999, he inaugurated the Honda Sales and Service and Shell Fuel Station operated by Cem Otomotiv Akaryakıt İnşaat A.Ş.
In 2001, the construction of the FTZ Shopping Center was completed and opened for service in Ankara. The center, which is still in operation today, features a total construction area of 32,000 m² and includes 42 independent shops.
In 2007, FTZ Group made significant strides in its primary business area of fuel/petroleum trade. Continuing to grow in this direction, the group acquired a fuel terminal in Kırıkkale with a capacity of 20,100 m³. The facility, operated by Shell & Turcas Petrol A.Ş., was transferred to the company in 2018 after the logistics support was shifted to the Ankara Behiçbey terminal, which is still operated by Akım-Tek A.Ş., a subsidiary of FTZ Group.
In 2009, FTZ Group acquired a fuel terminal with a capacity of approximately 35,000 m³, and all logistics services of Shell & Turcas Petrol A.Ş. in the region began to be provided from this terminal. Since 2009, these services have been uninterrupted.
In 2011, FTZ Group entered the tourism sector with the Warwick Ankara Hotel located in the Kavaklıdere district of Ankara. With its service culture, FTZ Group successfully made a difference in this field and operated the hotel until 2021.
FTZ Group, with a leadership approach that closely monitors global developments in the industry, has expanded its capacity in fuel terminal operations by incorporating a fuel terminal in Ankara with a capacity of approximately 35,000 m³, bringing its total capacity to over 90,000 m³. The terminal serves BP Petrolleri A.Ş., Shell & Turcas Petrol A.Ş., and Petrol Ofisi A.Ş.
FTZ Group, which has long been interested in 'build-operate-transfer' projects in the energy sector, began operations by acquiring the Keklicek Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) in Malatya, which has an installed capacity of 8,674 MWe and is operated by Karmavi Elektrik Üretim A.Ş.
In 2015, FTZ Group decided to expand its activities in the energy sector. That same year, it acquired the Çataldere 1, Çataldere 2, and Çataldere 3 Hydroelectric Power Plants (HPP), located in the Çayeli district of Rize and operated by Atabey Enerji Elektrik Üretim A.Ş., which have a total installed capacity of 19,867 MWe. This acquisition established FTZ Group as one of the important players in the energy sector.
FTZ Group started to export food to the UK through FTZ Foods Ltd. Additionally, it operates as a virtual market with its subsidiary Robin Food Ltd, providing same-day delivery to its customers.
FTZ Group, which is increasing its export activities, acquired Castrol Ukraine LLC and signed a distribution agreement with BP Petrolleri A.Ş. As a result, it became the sole authorized dealer of the Castrol, Aral, and BP brands in the Ukrainian market.
